Do you know that when you give to the poor and needy you have obeyed God’s commandments which in turn make God happy and repay your good deed a thousandfold?
Giving to the poor and needy should be the greatest joy in your heart because you’ve obeyed God’s commandment by doing so.
Before I go into the blessing that comes with giving, I want us to look into the Book of Deuteronomy 11:15 which says: “For the poor shall never cease out of the land, therefore, I command the saying, Thou shall open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor and to thy needy in thy land.
Now, there are a couple of interesting things about the verse.
The first is that it Enunciates the fact that there will always be poor/needy people amongst us.
And the second is interesting, it is a commandment from the Lord, a command to give “Therefore I command thee saying, Thou shall open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor and to thy needy in thy land.
God wants us to give rather than to hold unto what we have had. God didn’t create all men equally so He knows there will always be men falling into poverty that is why he commands us to open our hands wide to the poor and needy.
I want you to know that God will never make all men equal, therefore, it is your business to see that the needy do not remain in want. The poor will never cease except by the provision made to them by others.
One of the laws of receiving tangible blessings from God is the law of giving.
Proverbs 19:17 says “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord and he will repay him for his deed.
When God wants to repay your deed, he repays it a thousandfold and when you give, you have automatically created an atmosphere for blessings to flood your life.
Proverbs 22:9 says “The generous will themselves be blessed.
When you give, you will surely be blessed.
Do not forget God’s word and commandment in Deuteronomy 15:11. Always bear in mind that there are people who need your help because the Bible says the poor shall never cease out of the land. In obedience to God’s commandment, you must see that the poor and the needy do not remain in want.
