Last two Sundays in church, the pastor talked about a very striking and thoughtful topic which is “THE BATTLE OF IDENTITY”. He displayed images of some popular professions such as: Doctors, Pastors, Lawyers etc and the whole congregation Identified them as a result of their outfit.
Then he asked some striking questions:
WHO ARE YOU?
DO YOUR OUTFIT WHICH IS YOUR CHARACTER DISPLAY CHRIST?
Those questions got to me and I kept thinking about it the whole day.
Now, the questions I have for you is:
WHO ARE YOU?
DOES YOUR OUTFIT DISPLAY CHRIST?
WHAT DO YOU REALLY STAND FOR?
It is very important to know your true identity, it is important to know what you stand for in this place we call earth because without a clear understanding of who you are, abuse is inevitable since you don’t know your usefulness and life becomes clueless to you as well.
In the book of John 1:19-23, the priest and Levites questioned John and asked:
Who art thou?
What sayest thou of thyself?
And he answered them and said: I am the voice of the one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord.
Now, if you are asked this same question will you have an answer?
Even if you have an answer what would it be like. I know most people would base their Identity on what they do (business) and their accomplishment in lives, they will define themselve with their pursuit.
I’m not saying is bad but the first thing you must understand is that “Your Identity (who you are) must be anchored in the reality of who Jesus Christ is.
You can’t truly know and understand who you truly are without knowing the Creator.
Christians who are doing great things for God and doing well in all areas of life including Financially, spiritually and physically have their identity secured in Jesus, they know their God is at work for them because they have identified him as their true lord and personal saviour so they need not worry about anything because their identity has been anchored in Jesus that’s why they always do exploit and achieve great things.
Daniel 11:32 says: But the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploit.
In your journey to finding your true identity, make sure you understand by faith the Identity of Jesus and your Identity in him.
Knowing and understanding your identity in Christ is essential to your success in all areas of life.
The day you understand your identity in Christ, you will gain an extraordinary understanding of your true Identity in life
And when you understand your identity in Christ, people don’t need to be told before identifying you as a Child of God.
So as a child of God whose Identity is anchored in the reality of who Jesus Christ is, make sure your Outfit which is your character portrays Christ
You can’t dress with half of your boossom outside which is equivalent to dressing like a prostitute and claim to be a child of God whose Identity is anchored in Christ.
You can’t dress with your Trouser below your waist every single day and claim to be a child of God whose Identity is anchored in Christ.
You need to go to his word and discover your true identity in Christ because in his word lies your true identity and purpose in life.
So if you are are battling with finding your true identity and purpose, go to the Word of God which is the Bible and discover your Identity in Christ the after that, discovering your true identity and purpose here on earth becomes easy as you gain an extraordinary understanding of who you are through his word.
