A mighty man of valour as mostly used in the word of God (the Bible) is an attribute that describes a man full of strength, courage, prowess and firmness. There are different biblical references of mighty men of valour whose lifestyle has been a great lesson for us either positively or negatively. Most of them began well, but in the course of their journey of life and walk with God some of them were careless and ended up in disaster while others ended well and were greatly rewarded as a result of their discipline, persistence, diligence, commitment, dedication and total dependence on God.
Being a man of valour is not directly proportioned to your body fitness or physique alone, but how strengthened you are on the inside coupled with the demonstration of power under the influence of the Holy Spirit (Daniel 11:32b). What does your secret place look like? Many young men that attend churches today claim they love God and have a true relationship with Him, but the truth is that many of them, their hearts are far away from God. All they do is to put on a well-ironed cloth to church with an expensive shoe for Sunday service. They’ve caused a lot of havoc among the young ladies in the house of God. They can no longer sing under the Holy Spirit’s influence because they have the idol of a brother who is taking much of their attention during the service. Your tongue is like that of a serpent deceiving the young girls here and there, you are all ladies guy. You’ve slept with almost all the girls in the church and yet your conscience is dead. You feel you are enjoying yourself. Bravo! Don’t forget you are digging your grave with your own hands. I’m not disputing the fact that you have to look good to the house of God but not to the detriment of causing havoc.
There was a very young man in the scriptures, that was a Nazarite and the power of God was upon Him. He was such a wonderful gift to his parents and the people of Israel. He was the first and only man who tore and kill a lion with his bare hands. He uprooted a whole city gate with his bare hands and kill thousands of men using just a femur of a dead animal. He was such a great man indeed. His name is SAMSON. He was a blessing to the Israelites; he was supposed to be their Saviour during his time. Samson did so many powerful things in his time but his life was cut short by his own hands. He lost his mantle on the laps of a woman through his carelessness and his desire to satisfy the lust of the flesh. He was told about the ordinances of God towards His own people and himself but he chose to do things in his own way. He was warned but he forbids to listen and he ended up in a sorrowful way.
There was another man in the Bible who came from one of the least families in Israel. He looked less of himself because of the situation he was surrounded with and where he found himself. He was surprised when he was called a man of valour by the angel. He later realized who he was in God, then he decided to follow God’s instruction with total obedience. His name is GIDEON. He set all the idols in his father’s house ablaze without considering the consequence. He set the Israelites free from their captivity. When he was told by the people of Israel to be their ruler, He decided not to rule over them. He told them that God will continue to be the ruler over His own people. He destroyed all the gods in form of idols in Israel and ensured none existed in the land till his last breath; He serve the true living God till he dies and the people of God were at peace for a long time.
Here comes another young man in the Bible whose action turned away God’s anger toward the Israelites. His zealousness for God was known when he killed those who did an abominable thing before GOD. Through this, God made a covenant of peace with him and his household was blessed. He was chosen to lead God’s people. He led the Israelites on the right path and make peace with all men. His name is PHINEHAS.
These are men of valour in the Bible that produced a different result. What kind of man of valour are you? Which category do you fall into? Are you like Samson who took God’s grace for granted and did whatever pleases him putting his people in danger? He put the souls and generation attached to him at stake. You concluded within you that God knows and understands your weakness; enjoying the pleasures of this world, believing we are in the regime of grace. Or You are a young man like Gideon and Phinehas who choose to please God and directed God’s people in the right way till their last breath. They never permitted any form of immorality around them and did a lot of exploit for God thus following God’s ordinances. They destroyed anything that raises itself above God around them.
If you fall in line with the second category, CONGRATULATIONS! Keep on making God proud. His divine covenant with you remains intact as long as you play your part.
If you fall in line with the first category, I will advise you to come back to your right senses because you are heading towards destruction. It is high time you wake up from your slumber, no one knows when the bridegroom (JESUS CHRIST) will arrive. You need to trace back your steps to the cross. You are not only doing this for yourself but you are also saving the souls attached to you. You have a mandate you need to fulfil. You are to be used in a mighty way in your generation. Never lose your destiny on the laps of strange women. You are a mighty man of valour meant to do exploits for GOD. You are created to destroy the kingdom of darkness, set the captive free and bring the people to the marvellous light of JESUS CHRIST. You are to lead the generation in God’s way.
I Corinthians 3:16-17 says “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”
It is not too late, go back to your secret place, tarry before the Lord, have a genuine fellowship with Him and make your way straight before him. Ask him to direct your footsteps and determine never to go back to your old lifestyle.
Jeremiah 51:20 says “You are My battle axe and weapons of war: for with you I will break the nation in pieces; with you, I will destroy kingdoms”.
I SEE GOD HELPING YOU.
GO FORTH IN HIS MIGHT TO SHINE LIGHT TO THE WORLD
